Staff hope to have United Carpets, on Victoria Road, back open today
Police have put a cordon up outside a carpet business on one of the city's busiest roads. It is believed that United Carpets was broken into during the early hours of this morning with the windows to the Fenton business smashed.
Staff at the Victoria Road business are hoping to be back open today. Officers from Staffordshire Police are at the scene with forensics set to attend.
Teri Johnson, operations manager at the shop, hopes to be back up and running today. Speaking to StokeonTrentLive at the scene Teri said: "We were called at 2.30am and arrived at the scene. The windows were broken, but we can't go in because we've got to wait for the forensics. We've been here since then.
"We're an independently-run local business – we want to get back open as quickly as possible. We'll clean up, get the door repaired, get back in – and hopefully be open by the end of the day".
StokeonTrentLive has approached Staffordshire Police for a statement regarding the incident.
