Which players have the highest salary in 2022 Premier League? Haaland, Ronaldo… – AS USA

Soccer
The Premier League is on a mission to acquire the best players in the world to make sure that its teams can dominate in Europe against Real Madrid, Barça and Bayern, at the same time as having fierce battles in the domestic top flight. To achieve that, the salaries of these players are ever growing, with this season beating all records.
These salary numbers have been compiled thanks to a mix of what different newspapers have reported, as well as from sites such as Capology and Spotrac. These are some of the biggest names in football, and they are the highest paid players in the Premier League for the upcoming 2022/2023 season:
The new center back signing for the Blues comes from Napoli to anchor their defense after the departures of Rudiger and Christensen. He does so with a five-year contract that will instantly make him one of the highest paid players in the league, and the world, just ahead of teammate N’Golo Kanté.

The 26-year-old midfielder was regarded as one of the best young English talents in football before he signed with Manchester City, which allowed Aston Villa to get more than $100 million out of the Abu Dhabi-backed club’s pockets, and Grealish help himself to an enormous contract. His new teammate, Haaland, recently joked that since Grealish cost almost double what he did, he was not the one feeling some pressure to perform.
The other big signing by Chelsea this summer is the English winger, who arrives from Man City for a $50 million fee. Sterling will be one of the new leaders at Stamford Bridge, both because of his play, his experience… and his commanding salary.
The French center back had won it all both with Real Madrid and France, and as the Spanish club signed younger defenders he decided to embark on a new experience and go to the Premier League, at a premium cost. United had to pay a fee for him, and his salary is no small thing either, but so far he has not been the same player he was in Spain. Ten Hag will have to find a way to make him improve if they want to return to the Champions League.
Another big signing by the Glazer-owned club, and another disappointment in his first season. Sancho was supposed to come from Borussia and be a top of the world midfielder who made United’s play more efficient and better to watch. He did not accomplish those goals in his first season, but now, with Pogba gone and a new manager in place likely to use him better, he will have both more chances and more responsibility.
One of the biggest stars in the league and arguably Liverpool’s best player was not so sure about staying in England past this season, but John W. Henry and the Fenway Group could not afford to lose both him and Sadio Mané, so they made a financial effort to keep him. That effort will assure Jürgen Klopp that he has Salah ready to go for the next three years as they try to conquer more titles.
A goalkeeper who is among the top four highest paid players must be something special, and De Gea sure is that, even if he is constantly criticized by some. The 31-year-old has won Sir Matt Busby’s award for best Manchester United player four times, and he has played almost 400 games for the club since he arrived from Atlético in 2011. He may not be at the peak of his powers anymore, and his contract does end next season, but he has been the player that United have rightly paid so much to. Without him, their troubles in recent years could have been even worse.
Believed by many to be the top striker in the world, a goal-machine who can now also be labelled as a ‘gold-machine’, poised as he is to earn over $100 million thanks to his deal with Manchester City, at the end of which he will still only be 27! Haaland’s transfer did not cost as much as most people expected – thanks to a release clause – but all that money that did not end in Borussia’s pockets will be what the Norwegian goalscorer gets every time he steps onto the pitch.
Manchester City’s fans and owners are in love with him, Guardiola is in love with him, most football fans are in love with him, and De Bruyne’s play every game explains why that is and why every dollar he receives is money well spent by his team. He may not score the most goals or be the most physically gifted player in his team, but he’s the reason that City can play the way they do, and he gets compensated for that.
Who else, if not one of the best players ever, could top this list. The Portuguese 37-year-old is not the player he used to be a few seasons ago, he may not even stay at United given that he cannot get Champions League matches there, but every time he is playing no one doubts that he is always the biggest star on the pitch. He may have to take a salary cut to move on from Old Trafford, but if he stays another season he will have the chance to keep scoring goals and winning tons of money for it, just as he has done for well over a decade.
